Domestic Violence
A charge of domestic
violence is not simply an accusation of an assault or
a battery. It is perhaps one of the most volatile accusations
a defendant can face. Special courts have been set up
to deal with domestic violence, special prosecutors generally
handle domestic violence cases, and special laws govern
domestic violence cases. The odds are stacked against
the domestic violence defendant – guilty
or not. In fact, in many case, the law permits a domestic
violence prosecutor to pursue a case even without the
cooperation of the alleged victim.
Through years of experience, we have developed a specialized
knowledge of domestic violence law as well as the workings
of domestic violence courts and prosecutors. We put this
knowledge to work in defending domestic violence cases,
ensuring that the volatility of the accusation does not
result in the trampling on the rights of the accused.
